Andrew Pavey

As a lawyer and mediator for more than 15 years Andrew has worked with people to resolve conflicts. Following graduation from the University of British Columbia where he studied English and Philosophy, he obtained a Law degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia where he later taught social welfare law. Prior to his law degree he was Executive Director of Veith House, a neighbourhood community centre in Halifax that provided services to low-income families.

Andrew has prepared and presented briefs to governments on social development issues and helped design and implement government policies concerning social development issues. In 1994 he earned a Certificate in Child Protection Mediation from the Justice Institute of BC and in 1998 became a Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Family Division certified mediator. He provides mediation training, is a group facilitator and serves as a professional coach and mentor for peer professional mediators. Family issues comprise the bulk of his law and mediation practice, with criminal, workplace, administrative law and human rights matters making up most of the balance. Andrew has been an active member of Family Mediation Canada since 1995, is a director on its board and serves as a director on the board of Family Mediation Nova Scotia.
