FMNS provides information about family mediation to the public, promotes professional development and establishes standards of practice for family mediators. FMNS is the Nova Scotia provincial affiliate of Family Mediation Canada.

I am wondering if you are the correct people who assist in separation and divorce agreements. My husband and I are separating and can’t afford lawyers but don’t know where or how to proceed.Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry. We are one of the groups of professionals that assist people with issues related to separation and divorce. I suggest that you contact one of the mediators listed on our website (under “Find a Mediator”) or visit the Family Mediation Canada website at http://www.fmc.ca and look at their Find a Mediator page. Their page covers all of Canada so you will want to select “NS” from the State/Province pull down menu to see all the members located in Nova Scotia. Not all of the FMC members are in fact working as mediators so you may wish to call one or two located in your part of the province to ask.
